| Bodybuilding
I began my competitive bodybuilding career within three years after the birth of my third child. I had worked hard to successfully lose my pregnancy weight. I had always loved going to the gym and working out, but I needed something more challenging to keep me disciplined and focused.
In my first competitive fitness contestthe Power Groups Show in Horsham, PAI took 14th place. This was where Greg Long, a local bodybuilding legend and judge, suggested I try Women’s Bodybuilding instead, because I have a very muscular frame, one that would remain too muscular for “fitness competitions”, no matter how much weight I lost.
I entered my first Bodybuilding competitionthe Philadelphia Classicin 1999, and I took 3rd place! I knew right away that was my sport.
I hired a trainer after that show to help me become more competitive. I returned the following year, and won in my class. The trophy I won that day was so tall, it needed to be unassembled to get it home. I felt as if I was born for competitive bodybuilding.
I’ve been competing for more than 10 years now, winning many shows, and I feel that my dreams have been coming true with every win. I follow the lead of my role models, Lenda Murray, Carla Dunlap, Kim Chivesky, Laura Creaville, Lesa Lewis, whom I admire for all the hard work they have done in their commitment to the sport, for their lean, toned and feminine physiques, and for all the titles they have earned.
I have a lot of juggling to do to make my life work as a mom, wife, businesswoman, and coachnot to mention training to competeI have a lot to do. But every day is full and rich, and I wouldn’t change a thing!
